The public discourse is the single most powerful force in a democracy.  It drives elections, holds elected officials accountable, and allows us to grapple openly with the questions that define our collective identity and priorities.  However, until public opinion is mobilized in favor of specific policy, its power is strictly rhetorical.

While our stated mission as an organization is to build the national will to expand opportunity, implicit in it is the idea that a shift in sentiment will drive a shift towards specific policies that expand opportunity.  To meet this charge, we develop and distribute policy briefs that describe and advocate for policies which would dramatically expand opportunity.  When implemented, these policies will demonstrate the tangible things that we can do to realize our national promise of universal opportunity.
