Issues We're Working On

Achieving opportunity requires attitude and policy changes in a number of areas.  So while we often focus on specific issues, we understand that these issues are interconnected, and that bridging them is key to building the public will central to real solutions.

Below are listed our core issue areas.  You can search the tag cloud on the left for other topics we have information about.

Economic Justice
When it comes to our economy, we’re all in it together.  Fostering entrepreneurship, savings, investment, and stable homeownership across America’s diverse communities instigates not only individual opportunity, but shared national prosperity.

Education
The provision of high-quality education represents perhaps the single greatest possibility for the expansion of opportunity.  By strengthening our schools and expanding access to higher education, we can grow our economy and fulfill our responsibility to educate every citizen.

Health & Health Care
Every person has a fundamental right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of themselves and of their family.  Our health and the health of all Americans are inextricably tied to the success of our American community. In short, health is opportunity.

Human Rights
Opportunity requires a national commitment to protecting and promoting human rights. These rights are the guarantee of dignity and fairness we all deserve by virtue of our humanity, and which the world’s governments have recognized as universally essential.

Immigration
Immigrants are—and always have been—a vital part of our national community. We need national and local policies that welcome immigrants, while promoting the economic security and mobility of everyone.

Racial Justice
Equal opportunity is a core national value, and Americans strongly believe that it should not be hindered by race, gender, ethnicity, or other aspects of who we are. We need new and better ways to talk about equal opportunity and diversity, and the barriers that hamper them.
