Issues We're Working On

Achieving opportunity requires attitude and policy changes in a number of areas.  So while we often focus on specific issues, we understand that these issues are interconnected, and that bridging them is key to building the public will central to real solutions.

Below are listed our core issue areas.  You can search the tag cloud on the left for other topics we have information about.

Home Opportunity
The Opportunity Agenda has assembled a body of messaging advice, policy solutions, and opinion research that can inform and contribute to your advocacy on this issue.

Human Rights
Opportunity requires a national commitment to protecting and promoting human rights. These rights are the guarantee of dignity and fairness we all deserve by virtue of our humanity, and which the world’s governments have recognized as universally essential.

Immigrants and Opportunity
Immigrants are—and always have been—a vital part of our national community. We need national and local policies that welcome immigrants, while promoting the economic security and mobility of everyone.

LGBT and Race
The full report takes a close look at current public opinion and the role of ethnic and new media in both perpetuating and challenging myths and biases about LGBT people.

Opportunity for Black Men and Boys
The Opportunity Agenda has conducted three research studies that examine perceptions of and by African-American men and boys and their relationship to the media. This body of research informs the communications efforts of those seeking to improve opportunity for black males around the country.

Racial Justice
Equal opportunity is a core national value, and Americans strongly believe that it should not be hindered by race, gender, ethnicity, or other aspects of who we are. We need new and better ways to talk about equal opportunity and diversity, and the barriers that hamper them.

Reproductive Justice
The Opportunity Agenda is collaborating with a group of leading reproductive justice advocates and organizations to develop a coordinated frame and communications strategy, designed to move policy in the short term and shift the public dialogue around issues in the long term.
