Jared Bernstein Picked as Biden Economic Adviser

Vice President-elect, Joe Biden, has picked Jared Bernstein, founding advisory board member of The Opportunity Agenda, as his chief economic adviser.

An Obama adviser during the campaign, Dr. Bernstein is currently a senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute, a DC-based think tank working to achieve a prosperous and fair economy.  In his 16-years at EPI, Dr. Bernstein's work has focused on income inequality, low-wage labor markets, and poverty.

Feelings at EPI were predictably mixed.  President Lawrence Mishel said, "Jared will be sorely missed at EPI.  However, we are thrilled to know that his experience and vision will be part of the discussion leading us forward at this time of economic crisis."

Dr. Bernstein will serve in a new position called chief economist and economic policy adviser.  The Opportunity Agenda congratulates Dr. Bernstein on his appointment.
