About

Valerie Kiebala is a radical feminist writer, organizer, and artist centering relationships and firsthand experiences to produce groundbreaking narrative work towards dismantling oppressive structures and uplifting our people. She previously served as the Director of Communications for Straight Ahead, fighting to pass legislation to end solitary confinement and death by incarceration in Pennsylvania. She currently serves as the Managing Editor of Solitary Watch, a nonprofit organization documenting and exposing the use of solitary confinement across the U.S. Valerie is an abolitionist, who unapologetically fights for liberation. She believes that bringing the voices and presence of incarcerated leaders back into our communities is integral to crumbling the prison walls, ending the widespread torture that goes on inside, and addressing the roots of our societal violence.
