About

Rebecca Marimutu, a New York City-based photographer and educator, explores themes of identity, heritage, and cultural preservation in her work. Her experience with housing insecurity informs her advocacy for housing equity, infusing her artistic and community-driven endeavors with depth and urgency. With an M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and a B.S. from the University at Albany (SUNY), Rebecca employs traditional and digital techniques to craft conceptually rich and visually compelling pieces. Her work has been exhibited at venues, including the Spring/Break Art Fair in New York, Goucher College, Waller Gallery, Catalyst Contemporary in Baltimore, MD, Blue Sky, and Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts in Portland, OR. She is a professor at Parsons School of Design / The New School and the founder of Anchovy Press, an independent publishing company dedicated to centering BIPOC experiences in storytelling.
