About
Alaide Vilchis Ibarra (she/hers/ella) has over 10 years of experience working in advocacy, community organizing, and accompaniment of immigrant communities. She develops strategies and imagines possibilities in the Pacific Northwest as the Co-Executive Director of Together Lab, an organization that builds community power through organizing to transform systems so everyone belongs, and the Asylum Seeker Solidarity Collective, which recently won 1.2 million dollars to support arriving asylum seekers in Portland, OR.
Before coming to Together Lab, Alaide worked as Campaign Director for a national coalition focused on defending the family immigration system and previously was the Executive Director of the Oregon Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice, where she led efforts to pass the strongest Sanctuary law in the country.
Alaide is a DREAMer who became a United States citizen in 2014. She found her voice as an advocate testifying in the Kansas legislature to protect access to higher education for immigrants like her.
