Carmen Perez is an award-winning, internationally-known civil and human rights leader and Chicana feminist. With a 25-year career advocating for civil rights, she currently serves as President & CEO of The Gathering for Justice. Mentored by Harry Belafonte, Carmen has traveled globally to promote peace, build alternatives to incarceration, and guide policy creation. She co-founded Justice League NYC and CA, leading significant mobilizations like the 250-mile March 2 Justice and the March for Stolen Lives & Looted Dreams. Carmen established the Latinx Police Accountability Network and has led campaigns such as Free Meek Mill and Take a Knee with Colin Kaepernick. She co-chaired the Women’s March on Washington and co-founded Women’s March Inc. and Poderistas. Her numerous accolades include being named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People and receiving the keys to her hometown of Oxnard, CA. Carmen cherishes her role as a mother to two young children.
