David Trujillo
David Trujillo serves as Advocacy Director of the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties. ACLU-SDIC is a prominent force for the protection and expansion of fundamental rights in California’s second-most populous county and southern borderlands. David guides the affiliate’s public policy and civic engagement agenda.
David was born in Tijuana and grew up in both Tijuana and San Diego. Because of his lived experiences as an immigrant, English learner, and first-generation college student from an impoverished neighborhood, he is fiercely determined to eradicate barriers to social justice. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2017 – and voted for the first time in 2018. David holds a degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. He is a proud, homegrown leader in the fight for social justice and inclusion in the San Diego border region and California.
