Aseante Renee
Aseante Renee is a strategy and communications executive with over 12 years of experience working at the intersections of healing, wellness, and criminal justice. Currently, she is the Director of Communications at Common Justice, a nonprofit that develops and advances solutions to violence that transform the lives of those harmed and fosters racial equity without relying on incarceration. Some of her work includes shifting the cultural narrative on our responses to violence and incarceration as co-director and producer of the digital series, “Ever After: Stories of Violence, Accountability, and Healing” (myeverafter.org). Prior to joining Common Justice, Aseante was a policy advisor with the National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice, where she led the operationalizing of reconciliation work between communities of color and local law enforcement in six pilot cities. She earned her B.A. in Marketing from Hampton University and her M.S.W. from The University of Texas at Austin.
